Alessandra Mariano is 14 years old and a 9th-grader at the Academy for Science and Design in Nashua, NH.. She has been studying piano with Mila Filatova for 7 years. She has received commendations from New Hampshire State Senator Lou D. Allesandro and former Governor Lynch recognizing her talent and achievement.
Alessandra has been awarded first prize in several local and international piano competitions including: Crescendo International Competition, Plymouth State University Contemporary Piano Competition, Westfield State University Young Artist Piano Competition, Manchester Music School Performance Competition, and the New Hampshire Granite State Competition. She performed recently in a winner’s recital at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
At the age of 9, she performed as a soloist with the Parlarte Symphony Orchestra in Perugia, Italy. At the age of 10, Alessandra performed the Bach Concerto in F minor with the Nashua Chamber Orchestra. Last spring, she was invited to perform the premiere of Romeo Melloni's work with the New Hampshire Philharmonic Orchestra. She recently performed with the Sempre Musick Symphony Orchestra.
Alessandra enjoys performing locally at The Huntington, a retirement community in Nashua, NH. She has also been performing during holiday events at the Omni Mount Washington Resort since 2011. She takes pride in initiating a benefit concert along with the American Red Cross to help the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in 2013.
Alessandra also plays piano accompaniment. When not practicing, she competes in FIRST Lego League & American Regions Mathematics League. She enjoys running, recently placing in the top three in three events in her division. She also enjoys skiing, sketching, writing, coding, and chocolate. She draws inspiration from the views atop New Hampshire's 4000-footer mountains, which she loves to hike with her family and friends.
