John S. Hotchkiss, 17, is a senior at Oyster River High School where he is a member of the Jazz and Concert Bands as well as the Jazz Choir. He began studying clarinet eight years ago with Greg Adams in Altadena, CA. Since moving to Durham, NH, in 2000, he has studied with Dr. Mark DeTurk at UNH and most recently, with Stephanie Ratté at Concord Community Music School. 

John has performed with a variety of groups including the New Hampshire Youth Wind Symphony, the Scholarship Woodwind Quintet, the NHMEA All-State Festival Band and Orchestra, and the NEMFA All-New England Music Festival Band. He has been in the pit orchestra for productions of “Man of La Mancha,” “My Fair Lady,” and “Fiddler on the Roof.” He also performs frequently with Portsmouth pianist Richard Spicer.
