Cellist Sasha Scolnik-Brower is presently a sophomore at Phillips Academy, Andover. He is a student of Andrew Mark and Natasha Brofsky and is a member of the Boston Youth Symphony, Federico Cortese, conductor. Former teachers have included Jan Muller-Szeraws and Tom Kraines. In 2008 he won third-place in the New England String Ensemble competition, second place in the Massachusetts String Teacher's Association, and was a semi-finalist in the American String Teacher Association competition. In 2010 he was first-place winner in the Walden Chamber Players Young Artist Competition. He has had extensive chamber music experience in concerts at the New England Conservatory Preparatory Division, and with his string quartet was a finalist at the Fischoff  National Chamber Music Competition in the spring of 2010. He has toured both to Germany and to the United Kingdom with Boston Youth Symphony, and in the summer of 2010 played a concert in France with his sister, pianist Sophie Scolnik-Brower, and mother, flutist Julie Scolnik.
